In 2006 they found themselves added to the PIZZA OF DEATH v.a. Compilation "The Very Best of PIZZA OF DEATH", as well as added to the attention of many in the Japanese music scene. It seems that UPPER was finaly getting their due.. but it has been a long time coming...
Frontman and bassist, Yuya, first formed the early incarnations of UPPER in 1999 in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Experimenting with styles from POP to METAL the band finaly found their niche in a comfortable spot somewhere in between, and in 2002 released their 1st album "In All Sincerity" from Japanese underground Hardcore Label "REAL LIFE RECORDINGS". An insanely unhealthy amount of live shows followed and the band was starting to make a name for themselves in their home ground Hokkaido.
Shortly after Single release "Password", a slew of more live shows and a revolving door of member changes, in 2003 Yuya licked his wounds and started fresh in the Tokyo area. With a little trial, a lot of practice and the same grueling live habits, it wasn't long before UPPER was at a full comeback with the lineup we now know.
@"NOT OVER YET" is a testimony of such said perseverance and endurance. An intense mixture of melodic punk with splashes of crossover hardcore, their Pizza Of Death debut is UPPER's definitive album. However, for those who know- to know UPPER is to have seen an UPPER live performance. It's not over yet for UPPER.. no it's far from over, the saga continues with "NOT OVER YET" and there's a lot more where that came from.
